Non-UGA Program Approval Petition

Students are only eligible for academic credit and financial aid for non-UGA programs if they have been approved by the Office of Global Engagement.  A list of approved program providers can be found on the non-UGA General Program Application.  If you are unsure if your program is approved please reach out to studyaway@uga.edu.

If your program is not already an approved affiliate with UGA, you will be required to complete the following Non- UGA Program Approval petition process.

The Office of Global Engagement reserves the right to deny approval of any non-UGA program upon its sole discretion.  If a program is not approved, credits may not be transferable and federal and state aid may not be awarded.  Even if a program is approved, academic credit and financial aid will not be awarded unless all application requirements are complete and the student has an application status of OGE Approved in the StudyAway Portal.  All petitions must be submitted by October 15th for spring programs and March 15th for summer and fall programs.  If petitions are not completed by these dates students may not be eligible for their requested program.

Petition Process Steps:

  1. Fill out the below Non-UGA Program Approval Petition.  This must be completed by October 15th for spring programs or April 1st for fall and summer programs.
  2. Once step one of the petition process is complete, students will receive an email with instructions on completing a Short Form Agreement with their program. Until this is signed and finalized, the program will not be approved.
  3. Email the signed agreement to the UGA Office of Global Engagement at studyaway@uga.edu.
  4. OGE staff will review documentation and follow up with program approval.
  5. After the program is approved, complete the Non-UGA General program application in the StudyAway portal.

All students are required to attend the mandatory UGA Pre-Departure Orientation before studying abroad.
By completing this petition I agree that I understand that the UGA Office of Global Engagement reserves the right to exclude any Non-UGA study abroad program from being a UGA Approved program which may impact the transferability of academic credit and availability of financial aid. *
