Application Deadlines and Review: October 24,2014 (Spring) ; March 6, 2015 (Summer & Fall)

Below is the application for the AGIC. The award amount is up to $5000 per student. Current undergraduate or graduate students and recent graduates (within one year) are eligible. The primary objective of this grant is to fund internships, however a small subset of grants can be used to fund students applying to study abroad programs with an internship component (preferably related to their career goals). Internships/Volunteer opportunities MUST last for a minimum of 4 weeks. There is no maximum limit on internship/volunteer duration. Internships/volunteer MUST be conducted in southeast Asia. Preference is given to students traveling to Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, but scholarships will be given to students interning in other countries within the region, as well. You MUST be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Each student may only submit one application.

The selection process is based on your length of stay (commitment), how the internship/volunteer opportunity relates to your future goals (academic/career), and location. The money will be placed into your student account and then you can go to the Bursars office to withdraw it or have it directly deposited into your account. Depending on the date, you’ll have the money available to you by the start of the internship. The more information on the internship, the better your chances of receiving the grant.
