Interns at the Office of Global Engagement (OGE) – Global Education - can expect a flexible, engaging work environment. Ongoing intern tasks include event planning for the annual open house, Fall Study Away Fair, Faculty and Staff Study Abroad Support Workshop, and Spring Study Away Fair in addition to outreach. Ultimately, we want our interns to acquire valuable experience in a variety of events and also act as self-starters on any projects that interest them and support Education Abroad advocacy.
Our ideal candidate possesses:
- Strong event planning skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Attention to detail and proofreading skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Interest in international studies
The intern will:
- Work approximately 6-10 hours/week in our office, some telework possible
- Attend OGE/Education Abroad training
Preference is given to 2nd and 3rd year students majoring in Marketing and/or International Business in Terry College, Advertising & Public Relations in Grady College, or Hospitality and Food Industry Management in CAES. If the intern wants to earn academic credit, we are happy to file the necessary paperwork for this internship if it qualifies under their academic program.
Who will the student be working with?
The intern will be supervised by a Global Education Advisor and often may work with the Glodal Education Director, Global Education staff, UGA’s Peace Corps recruiter. OGE/Global Education employs about a dozen student workers, graduate assistants and interns, and many of these students share a common workroom and computer resources.
