The Forest Hills School District is exploring a pilot project that could begin as early as January of the 2010-2011 school year enabling 7th grade students to bring their own computing device (i.e. laptop, netbook, iPod Touch) to school. If the pilot project moves forward, the option will be available for students to bring their own computing device to school; however, the district will not require all students to do so. This survey is designed to gather information from the parents of current 6th grade students regarding this proposed pilot project.
The 7th grade was chosen for this pilot project for many reasons; the infrastructure needed to support the pilot could be contained to a portion of one school building, the numbers of teachers involved in the pilot could be contained to one grade level in one school building, and the desired action-research could take place in one school building. If proven successful, it is our hope that the pilot project would be scaled up to include grades 8-12 in future school years.
Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions. A summary of responses will be shared with the Board of Education in March. Should the pilot project be approved further information will be forthcoming.
Please respond to this survey by Wednesday, March 10th.
